Butterflies are a symbol of renewed life, new beginnings and hope. So what does a skeleton with clockwork butterfly wings and a jet pack represent? One thing is certain: a creature like this can only come from the world of Monkey Wrench. A silver butterfly necklace with considerably more going on than usual.

Length
What's my size?

Rings — Wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure that length in millimetres and compare it against a ring size chart. Any jeweller can also size you in a minute. If you fall between sizes, go up.

Bracelets — Measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone. S suits smaller wrists, M sits in between, and L suits larger ones. The sizes scale in thickness as well as length, so the piece stays in proportion.

Necklaces — 18in sits around the collarbone on most people. 16in sits higher on the neck; 20in and 22in sit lower on the chest.

Still unsure? Get in touch before ordering and we'll help you get it right — every piece is made by hand, so most sizes are possible.

The full story

Product Details

From the intricate clockwork in the wings to the hat to the jet pack, we went all out on this one. The jet pack opens, and there is a monkey wrench hidden inside. The butterfly suspends from a sterling silver chain containing an inline monkey wrench link. Steampunk in the proper sense of the word: the mechanism is real, not printed on.

Materials and Finish

The pendant is cast in solid sterling silver and hand-finished with a patina that settles into the fine detail, keeping the high points bright and the recesses dark. It hangs from a solid sterling silver chain. As with every Monkey Wrench piece the finishing is done by hand, so no two are exactly alike.

Sizing and Fit

Choose a chain length of 16, 18, 20 or 22 inches. Eighteen inches is our standard and sits at the collarbone on most people; the 20 and 22 inch chains drop the pendant lower onto the chest, which suits a larger frame or a layered look.

Made to Order

Nothing here sits in a warehouse waiting for an order. Each piece is cast, finished and inspected after you buy it, which usually takes two to six weeks depending on the queue and how involved the piece is. That wait is the whole point: what arrives was made for you, in your size, by the same hands that sculpted the original.

What's in the box

Nothing here leaves the bench in a padded envelope.

Your piece arrives in a satin-lined keepsake box, sealed under a foil skull and wrench — and it doesn't arrive alone.

There's a collector card with the character's name, where it came from and the metal it's cut from.

There's Issue #1 of the comic these pieces climbed out of. The story is in the box with the story you're wearing.
